Post links to your QP installation(s) here, and maybe say what version or what special tricks you did to make it be what you wanted?

QP runs my bookmarks site

Postby leeturner » Mon May 16, 2011 10:43 pm

When Yahoo decided that it was going to kill/sell delicious I thought it was about time I moved my bookmarks to a system that I owned and controlled. Now my whole bookmarks site is run on top of Quam Plures:

I use the bookmarklet that comes with QP to post links to my site. When I am on a site I want to bookmark, I hit the bookmarklet and it pretty much sorts out the rest. There is also a custom template that has nice little features like showing and hiding the description of the link.

I added a separate blog for the bookmarks that are popular or trending in the other social bookmarking systems. All this does is pull in an RSS feed from the social bookmarking sites and displays the results in a post:

I also created a custom page that lists all the tags that I have used to provide me with quick access to them all. This custom page also provides links to other social bookmarking systems for each tag so I can go and discover other sites related to the tags I have used.

If you have any questions about how it was all put together then please ask.

Neat! I like the simple design.

Ah yes. We really need to add a way to view all the used tags in the backoffice (admin control panel) and allow blog owners (I don't know at the moment: Are tags global or per-blog? The latter would make more sense in my opinion.) to delete and maybe to rename them. We definitely need to find a way to automatically delete tags from the DB if they are not used/required anymore as well -- currently, that's not done (if I remember correctly) and the tags table grows and grows with the time...
